What are the Advisory Boards for?
The appointment of external experts as advisors in EU funded projects is a best practice for project management, contributing to the successful implementation of the project work plan, serving as a quality management action for project results, and enhancing the impact of the project outcomes.
The scientific work developed in the Net4Cities project builds on a strong participatory concept, as the project takes shape through co-creation methods in order to meet cities‘ needs.
Thus, two external expert advisory boards (EEABs) will be constituted:
- Scientific Advisory Board
- Stakeholder Advisory Board
The EEABs are independent from each other but function under the same set of rules. All members are appointed in agreement with the Net4Cities General Assembly based on interest and mutual agreement for the duration of the Net4Cities project (2024-2027).
What do the Advisory Boards do?
The advisory boards are independent, external bodies of the Net4Cities-project and consist of selected experts working in topics closely related to the project.
The Scientific Advisory Board is constituted of experts from areas of both noise and atmospheric measurements, including both ground and remote sensing thematic. The Stakeholder Advisory Board, on the other hand, includes representatives of pertinent stakeholder groups, such as NGOs and environmental protection organisations, that will be able to support the Net4Cities co-creation process and enable a larger impact of the project, by reaching out to a wider key target audience, and promoting policy-relevant and user-oriented results.
The EEABs support Net4Cities with their knowledge and expertise and provide their advice for the duration of the project. This takes the form of: (a) constructive feedback on the project’s implementation, (b) reviews of the project’s actions, and (c) guidance on the project’s outcomes, to ensure Net4Cities keeps progressing towards its established objectives. Furthermore, they offer strategic advice, especially with regard to monitoring networks and design of the Net4Cities Studio, to ensure utility and impact of the collected data.
The EEABs‘ role also includes promoting the project’s activities and results, e.g. supporting dissemination, suggesting further external stakeholders for the planned events, and identifying potential users of the Net4Cities Studio to maximize long-term impact and sustainability of the tool.
